Some things are simple, but not easy. Zentangle is not one of those. It really is easy enough for a first-grader to do. I know. I have taught them.
Many people look at a completed Zentangle and think there is no way they can do it. Are you one of them? If so, here is a simple test:
- Can you print your name?
- Can you draw a stick figure?
If you answered yes to either of them, then you have all of the skills you need to do Zentangle. ALL of the patterns in Zentangle use one or more of the following elemental strokes:
. , | s o
E is also for “Everyone.” Zentangle is not art FOR the people. It is art BY the people.
I had such a hard time finding an appropriate quote to go with the word easy. It seems that nothing which is easy can be of value. I reject that notion. Zentangle is easy, but so worthwhile. No links to follow today, so if you have a few minutes, click on the name of any of the tangles I’ve shown you so far for step-outs. Give one a try and see how easy they are.
