A to Z of Zentangle

O is for Observant, Day 15 of the A to Z of Zentangle Challenge#atozchallenge

One of my favorite tangles:onamato

Do you notice all of the patterns that are all around you? If you have been trained in the Zentangle Method, I am guessing that your answer is, “yes!” Everywhere I go, I see patterns:

At first, I thought it was just me. But I’ve discovered that this increased awareness of patterns is almost universal to those practicing Zentangle Method. I knew all of this hand-eye coordination practice would make me a better drawer. I was surprised that it made me more observant.

Why does it matter how observant you are? Just google “powers of observation.” I got 45 million results, but I thought this one was particularly funny.

Missed the beginning  of the series? It all starts with Appreciation.

  1. Patterns are high on my priority list whether noticing them with my eyes, or ears, or nose or mouth. However, there another pattern we can develop. The patterns of stillness, of solitude, of calm. Observing, focusing and relishing our observations can be key to our happiness.

  3. Yes, Cris, I quite agree that observing is enlightening, fascinating and imperative! I followed your link to Suresh’s blog. His ending story is certainly testament to the latter!! 😀 I’ve been following your “A to Z of Zentangle” challenge and enjoying your offerings. Today was the first time, however, that I noticed the name of your focus tangle began with the letter of the day! Now … I’ll have to go back and check out the first 14 again! Thanks for offering us wisdom in each day of your challenge.
