Zentangle:ZIA

Remember Me?

Hi! Last time I posted was a quick Diva Challenge from San Diego 2 MONTHS ago! I can’t believe it has been that long. If you follow me on Facebook, you know I’ve been to 2 Zentangle events since my last update: Tangle Island on Vancouver Island, BC, Canada and Zentangle Expo in Madison, WI, and also 2 countries and 6 states. What a great summer it has been!

Rather than writing a novel here and trying to “catch up,” I’ll just do a Diva Challenge and ease my way back slowly into the groove. This week La Diva challenged us to start with a circle string.

I’m pretty sure that’s not what she had in mind, but I had these 4 watercolor squares left from Tangle Island, so I taped them together and drew circles.

Hmm. Now what? Black pearls go with everything. Since my absolutely favorite pen
(Carbon Desk Fountain Pen) was sitting next to the squares, I used that.

I guess after seeing all of the beautiful Huggins all over facebook last weekend, it just seeped out.

My “go-to” tangles: flux, opus, and tipple.

Seriously, when in doubt, aura.

After Alexa’s graduation party on Saturday, I am tired, so I just wanted to color!

I used 3 different pencils for each color. Purples: Prismacolor Black Grape (PC996), Violet (PC932), and Lavender (PC934). Blues: PC901, PC919, and Faber-Castel Prussian Blue (9201-246) Pinks: CraZart deep raspberry, CraZart cra-Z-pink, and Tombow Coral Pink (P2). Used white gel pen to cover up any places where I colored outisde the lines and to add more shine to the black pearls.

The start of the greens: Prismacolor Cool Gray 90% (PC1057), Faber Castell Deeep Coboalt Green (9201-158), Verithin Peacock Green (739), Prismacolor

After burnishing with Faber-Castell Leaf Green (9201-112)

At this point, I like it a lot, but I thought it could use a bit more. So, I aura’d the outside. (And forgot to take a picture.)

Finished by filling the empty space with mooka and black in the style of new CZT Kae Yoshino.

  4. What an absolutely stunning ensemble piece! I like the way you met this challenge and your linework is amazing. But what really struck me was the amazing colored pencil work, I don’t think I have ever seen such beautiful shine worked into a piece! Guess I know what I need to aspire to now. Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful artwork!
