It’s Beginning to Look a Lot…

Yep, it’s that time of year again. Even though it’s not quite December yet, we are full into the Christmas spirit. I don’t start until after Thanksgiving, but that was a whole week ago, so here are my first 2 Christmas-themed tiles. 3Z are perfect for little trees.

I did most of my Dewd last week, but was challenged to do it again, so here is my Dewd tree. I started with a white 3Z, and I will admit that I REALLY hate the texture of these. The imprint from the screen is so strong that it made it difficult to color evenly or even to draw without the pen skipping.

Tis the season for bling, so I brought out a pen that I found when I cleaned out the desk drawer. I have no idea how old it is. It  is half-dried out and the tip is a complete mess. But the ink is really gorgeous.

It is so reflective that it is difficult to capture the effect with photography so I took the top picture in shadow and the bottom in direct bright light. Neither do it justice.

Here is another tree that I did and attempted to use the mangled pen. I force it to glob on scrap paper and then used a toothpick to apply the ink to the tree. All things considered, I think it would have been faster to get in my car and go to the store and get a new pen!

I am presenting a Zentangle program at my daughter’s college for “destress December” and it got me to thinking that this is a really good goal. So, I’m going to do a daily destress mission for “destress December.” I hope you to play along! I will post daily (I hope) missions that are quick and fun and hopefully help combat stress.

See you soon.

  1. For me in the Netherlands Christmas is not feeling near yet. I don’t know anyone that has already decorated the house. I like to hear the difference in these things 🙂 Your Dwed tiles are beautiful.

    1. Thanks. I would be happier if we were more about Advent before Christmas, but it seems that every year, all of the preparations start earlier. That only adds to the stress. We used to do the Saturday after Thanksgiving when I was a kid. But now some people do it as soon as Halloween is over. And some stores put out Halloween and Christmas decorations at the same time!

  2. I like the de-stress December tag line. I would like to I corporate it into my ministry in mindfulness referencing you as a CZT colleague.
